Where the Czech...? #79

Can anybody guess where this photo might have been taken and explain why these four men might be walking along the road in their strange costumes?

Not sure where, but could it be the masopust, which is a carnival tradition like Mardi Gras occurring before Ash Wednesday. I guess you are more likely to see the parades in Moravia than Bohemia. I understand alcohol is involved as well as koláčky.

That is quite funny ... I don't know. Some village in deepest darkest Africa ... my best guess is that it's something to do with the Three Kings because one of them is supposed to be black. Not sure why all three of them are black here, though!

P.S. You should make this Where the Czech quizz easier. Lately, I can't recognize anything!

Well done Mike, it is a Masopust parade. With a little detective work, I bet you'll even be able to find the name of the village...?

And Lucie, I'll try to find some easy ones, but Český Krumlov, Kutná Hora, Karlovy Vary and so on were all done in the first couple of months of Where the Czech...?

But I guess we'll eventually run out of towns and I'll have to start again, so please keep reading ;-)

A shot in the dark, but what about the Wallachian Village in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm?

How about Vortová in eastern Bohemia?

Worth a guess Jay, but Mike has it.

I went two years ago and would have to say, of the things I've seen and done in this country, it's among my favourites.

The masked parade is on again in Vortova this weekend, for anyone within travelling distance...

Nah, I don't want Krumlov, Kutná Hora and Karlovy Vary. I probably wouldn't even recognize those. :o)) Maybe it's just too much Bohemia for me. I come from that region that people always forget about, you see ... Yes, that one! Even some Czech people have the audacity to say, "Czech Republic consists of two countries, Bohemia and Moravia" ... and I'm like, "NO! There are three!" hahaha

Please keep reading Lucie and I'll see what I can do ;-)
