Not a clue, but perhaps because it is spring, and love is in the air, it has something to do with Karel Hynek Macha and his poem Maj? I think there is a lake Macha.
On a slightly different note, where in Olomouc can I get free wifi (any pubs, restaurants ...)? While I am there I need to check into my class at it will be about dinner time. Thanks.
It's not Macha's lake. Perhaps Christmas would have been a more appropriate time to post this photo.
There's free Wi-fi in loads of places across Olomouc. The Jazz Club, Osa, Hlava 21, Cafe Meex all have it: might actually be easier to list places that don't offer it.
Any accommodation worth its salt should have it too...;-)
I suppose it's a carp pond if it has a connection to Christmas... The only Czech carp ponds I've been to are in Telč and Trebon, is it either of those? I'd take Telč as a first guess.

...the body of water is possibly better known than the little town with the baroque chateau...

I guess it's really a pond more than a lake...
I wish I knew! Kinda looks like the water near Velehrad, but that chateau is not Velehrad Cathedral.

It's neither Velehrad nor Telč, but Widlroo is getting fairly close with his guess of Třeboň...
Is it Chlum u Třeboně?
Good work, XuXu. Chlum u Třeboně it is.
The ponds around town are some of the oldest and largest in the Třeboň region, which is on the tentative list for UNESCO world heritage protection.
Pleasant little township and some lovely waterside cycle trails nearby.
