This weeks' Where the Czech? is from a place I've been to a few times. Most recently at the end of September while their St Wenceslas day festival was underway. Do you recognise it?

Looks a bit like Mělník...
Hi Erin,
It does a little doesn't it? To my mind Mělník and the place in the photo have quite a bit in common, but to explain why would give things away too soon...
Is that an alcohol related hint? That tower's very Italianate, in an austere sort of way.
Aha, of course, it's not alcohol, but bones...

You got it. Well done.
Sometime soon we'll do a scorecheck and see who has the most of these correct. At the moment I'm pretty sure it's: Michael 5 or 6, everybody else-1.
Perhaps another one from the South next week ;-)
And yep, I was thinking of bones. Also rough distance from Prague, popularity as daytrips, and something strikes me as similar about the overall vibe of the two towns.
Excellent teahouses in both places as well...
They're both fantastic places, aren't they? Melnik just about shades it: the two rivers joining just below, grape vines on the hill. Mind, it was a bugger to get to from Liberec...Novy Bor bus station's no place to hang around in.
Ah of course - I can see it now.
