Where the Czech...? #31

Can anybody tell me what the heck is going on in this picture? And, to the nearest five miles or so, its location...

You haven't been holidaying in Kadan, have you?

It's one of those stupid pepper dispensers you get in Italian restaurants. I've seen ones as big as that before, usually spraying gunk all over my margherita.

I have never seen this before. Could it be the US's missile defense system? It looks Napolean-esque, so I would guess that perhaps it is near Austerlitz (Slavkov u Brna) and is a road construction site

I have definitely driven passed these before - and thought they were weird and quirky... but where was that? Was it on the way to Cesky Raj just before Jicin? I think it is outside of one of the sand mines and this is part of the cement making facility - I would like to think the soldiers are non-functional... but... :)

I know it but am forbidden to speak! I shall just stand here with my syphilitic hand tucked into my jacket front with my silly hat on sideways, and smirk at you all...

Hahaha!

So we have pepper dispensers, road construction or a sand mine either in Kadan, near Austerlitz or on the way to Cesky Raj?

Hehe! One of you is correct about one of those things. (Sorry Michael, it's not the pepper;-)

Francie's forbidden to speak her mind because she actually took this photo, which gives her somewhat of an unfair advantage. The previous two weeks were from her camera as well.

I hope to be out travelling around and collecting my own photos again soon, but more about that on Sunday.

So, it's not pepper, but one of the other five answers is pretty much correct. But which one...?

Are they, perchance, daredevil cement mixers who are going to use that ramp to jump over 100 idiots on motorcycles laid end to end - and then the big soldierboys would just be window dressing to the spectacular.

They're all in training for Prague's bid for the 2020 Olympics.

It's Jicin and a fiendish politician (it's got to be Klaus)has devised a way to fire local Roma families into outer space.

Well, I guess Katie and Michael Svec have tied for this one.
It's a cement plant not too far from the site of Napoleon Bonaparte's greatest victory; the Battle of Austerlitz.
I've seen a few of this company's other cement plants painted up, but this one is my favourite. I most often see it from the highway when heading home to Olomouc via Brno.
If you're heading that way, keep an eye out to the north of the highway, about 15 minutes east of Brno, around Slavkov U Brna and Vyskov na Morave.

It could also have been daredvil cement mixers filled with pepper gearing up to catapult unfortunate Roma families into a really big margherita at the behest of a powerful economist who thinks climate change is a figment of Al Gore's imagination...

Hehe, easily my favourite comments to this blog! Keep it up!

:-)

I knew I'd driven past it before with my family from Cali en-tow. ...Why do so many things about family holidays seem to blur together in the end.... :)

Just so you all know, I don't actually have syphilis but Napoleon did. That's why he always had his hand tucked into his jacket. To hide the signs on his fingers. I do have a collection of funny hats though, and am occasionally prone to smirking.

Some of your hats are so funny they're bordering on silly, Francie.

For anyone who doesn't know, Francie is somewhat of a closet Battle of Austerlitz expert, having both read and understood War and Peace.

She also won a prize in Lonely Planet's most recent photo competition with one of her photographs from the 200th anniversary re-enactment of the battle, in 2005.
