Where the Czech...? #4

Does anybody know which town this main square belongs to? You've been pretty sharp so far, so no hints until at least Friday...

I'm at a loss for the name - I have a feeling I've been there... somewhere in NW Bohemia? Very unconfident about this one :-(

Bohemia's right but I reckon NE not NW - Nachod?

Geez...less than 24 hours again! What does it take to stump you guys?

It certainly is Nachod, despite the distinctive round tower of the chateau being hard to see from this angle.

The building in the foreground is the Hotel U Beranka, and is mentioned in some of Josef Skvorecky's earlier books as the venue of the concerts by Danny's jazz band. The kavarna there is now named Dannyho Kavarna in honour of the tales.

The shadows on its front are cast by the twin towers of the St Lawrence church, known locally as Adam and Eve.

Nachod's a good place to cross into Poland and the first town on the other side, Kudowa Zdroj has an interesting chapel filled with human bones, something like a mini-version of the one at Kutna Hora.

A really hard one next week, OK?

If it's any consolation I almost went for Decin, and I'm crap with anything south of Prague ;)

South of Prague it is then. ;-)
